 Easy Homemade Pizza Sauce

Easy Homemade Pizza Sauce

This simple easy homemade pizza sauce is thick, tangy, and packed with classic Italian flavors. It’s made with pantry staples and comes together in under 5 minutes — just blend or stir and you’re ready to go! You can use it right away or simmer it briefly for an even richer, deeper flavor.

Ingredients

1 (15 oz) can Crushed Tomatoes

2 Tablespoons Tomato Paste

2–3 Cloves Garlic, minced or grated

1 tbsp Olive Oil

1 tsp Dried Oregano

1 tsp dried basil (or Italian seasoning)

1/2 tsp onion powder (optional)

1/2 tsp sugar or maple syrup (to balance acidity)

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions

In a bowl, whisk together all ingredients, or blend in a small blender until smooth.

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning — add more salt, herbs, or sugar if needed.

For a richer flavor, simmer the sauce on low heat for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Spread onto pizza dough, use as a dip, or store in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.

For extra magic, stir in a splash of balsamic vinegar or a few fresh basil leaves before serving — it really takes it up a notch!

Pro Sauce Option: If you have the time and want a deeper even more flavorful sauce. In a baking dish on 375 degrees roast about 8 Roma Tomatoes, 1 cup cherry tomatoes drizzled with olive oil and season with Italian spices. Bake for about 1 hour or until the tomatoes blister. Remove and allow to cool a bit before blending. Use this instead of the can tomatoes. It really makes a huge difference in the depth of flavor for the sauce.
