This Vegan Chocolate Avocado MousseĀ is a luscious, creamy dessert that combines the richness of ripe avocados, the deep, decadent flavor of cacao powder, and the velvety texture of coconut milk. Sweetened naturally with maple syrup and infused with a hint of vanilla, this mousse is not only indulgent but also packed with nutrients.
Ingredients
4 Large Ripe Avocados (peeled and pitted)
1/3 cup Cacao Powder (adjust to taste)
1/2 cup Canned Coconut milk (full-fat, chilled, and well-stirred)
1/4 cup Maple Syrup (or more for desired sweetness)
1 tsp Vanilla extract
Pinch of Sea Salt
Optional Toppings
Fresh Berries
Shaved Dark Chocolate
Coconut Whipped Cream
Crushed Chocolate Cookies
Instructions
Scoop out the avocado flesh into a blender or food processor. Ensure the canned coconut milk is well-stirred to incorporate the cream and liquid.
Add the cacao powder, coconut milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt to the blender. Blend until completely smooth and creamy about 2-3 minutes to get it nice and fluffy. Scrape down the sides as needed to ensure everything is well combined.
Taste the mousse and adjust sweetness or cacao level if needed by adding more maple syrup or cacao powder. Blend again briefly to combine.
Transfer the mousse into serving glasses or bowls. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours (or overnight) to allow it to set and develop flavors.
Top with your favorite garnishes, such as fresh berries, a sprinkle of cacao nibs, or a dollop of coconut whipped cream. Serve chilled.
Note: You can substitute the Agave Nectar instead of Maple Syrup for this recipe. Agave is much sweeter so your mousse will come out a bit more sweeter.
