Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Creamy, dreamy, and full of comforting flavors, these vegan mashed sweet potatoes are the perfect side dish for any meal. Made with naturally sweet and vibrant sweet potatoes, a touch of vegan butter, and a hint of warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, they deliver a delicious balance of sweetness and earthiness. Rich in fiber, vitamin A, and antioxidants, this dish is as nourishing as it is satisfying. Whether topped with crunchy pecans, a drizzle of maple syrup, or kept simple, these mashed sweet potatoes are a crowd-pleaser for everyday meals or festive gatherings.




Ingredients

3 Large Sweet Potatoes (about 2 pounds)

2–3 Tablespoons Vegan Butter

1/4 cup Unsweetened Plant-Based Milk (such as almond, oat, or cashew milk)

1 tsp Maple Syrup (optional, for sweetness)

1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon

1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg

Salt to taste

Freshly Ground Black Pepper (optional)

Optional Toppings:

Chopped Pecans or Walnuts

Drizzle of Maple Syrup

Fresh Herbs like Thyme or Parsley


Instructions

Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into large chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with water. Add a pinch of salt to the water.


Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 15–20 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are fork-tender.


Drain the sweet potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the vegan butter, plant-based milk, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup (if using). Mash with a potato masher or fork until smooth and creamy. Adjust the amount of plant-based milk for your desired consistency.


Add salt to taste and a pinch of black pepper if desired. Mix well. Transfer to a serving dish and top with your favorite toppings like chopped pecans or a drizzle of maple syrup for added flavor.
