Ingredients
2 large Carrots
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce or Tamari (for gluten-free)
1 tsp Maple Syrup
1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Onion Powder
1/2 tsp Liquid Smoke
1/4 tsp Black Pepper
Pinch of Salt
Instructions
Wash and peel the carrots.
Using a vegetable peeler, slice the carrots into thin, wide strips, resembling bacon slices.
In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, maple syrup, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, liquid smoke, black pepper, and salt.
Place the carrot strips in the bowl with the marinade, ensuring each strip is well-coated.
Let the carrot strips marinate for at least 15-20 minutes. For best results, marinate for up to 1 hour.
Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly grease the air fryer basket with a little oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Arrange the marinated carrot strips in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding; you may need to cook them in batches.
Air fry the carrot strips for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are crispy and slightly browned. Keep a close eye on them to avoid burning.
Remove the carrot bacon from the air fryer and let it cool slightly. It will become more crispier as it cools.
Serve your crispy carrot bacon as a delicious addition to salads, sandwiches, or enjoy it as a snack.
Note: You can also cook the bacon on a the stove top in a frying pan if you dont have an air fryer.
