This Garlic & Herb Pull-Apart Bread is one of those recipes that instantly makes your kitchen smell like a dream. It’s soft, warm, and layered with garlicky herb flavor in every bite. The dough is simple, uses everyday pantry staples, and costs less than two dollars to make from start to finish. I love tearing off a piece straight from the pan — it’s perfect with soups, pastas, or dipped into olive oil. This recipe is proof that homemade bread doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated to be delicious.
Ingredients
3 cups All-Purpose Flour
2-1/4 tsp Instant YeastÂ
1 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Salt
1 cup Warm Water
2 Tablespoons Oil
1 tsp Garlic Powder
3 Cloves Garlic, minced
2 tsp Dried Herbs (like rosemary, cilantro, oregano)
This Garlic & Herb Pull-Apart Bread actually reminds me of one of the very first breads I ever made when I was a kid — little clover rolls. I must have been around eight years old, carefully shaping the tiny dough balls and tucking them into a muffin tin. I still remember how proud I felt watching them puff up in the oven and fill the house with that warm, comforting smell of homemade bread. That simple recipe was what sparked my lifelong love for baking — the magic of flour, water, and yeast turning into something so beautiful.
Now, every time I make this pull-apart bread, it brings me right back to that moment. The same joy, the same smell, just a grown-up version with garlic, herbs, and a little more flavor. It’s amazing how food can carry memories, and how something as humble as bread can remind you why you fell in love with cooking in the first place.
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix flour, yeast, garlic powder, sugar, and salt.
Add warm water (NOT HOT) and oil, then knead 5–7 minutes until smooth.
Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled. For best results place in a warm
area in the kitchen, like a turned off oven.
Stir garlic and herbs into an addition 1 tablespoon oil.
Roll dough into small balls, dip in garlic oil, and place close together in a greased
round pan or skillet with the herb garlic oil facing up.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes until golden. Brush top with additional oil or butter and a sprinkle of salt. (optional).
Options: Top with shredded cheese after the 20-23 minute baking mark for a cheesy topping.
